Previous Food Distributions
COZ Foundation started its mission to feed elderly people in need and orphans during Ramadan in May 2020. We fed 200 orphan families in various communities in Pemba, which comprised 1000 orphans, after successfully obtaining £5014 through an online fundraising platform (JustGiving.com).
We then raised money for Qurbani, an Islamic custom in which animals are sacrificed on Eid and the meat is distributed to the less fortunate. With this money, we were able to provide over 150 orphan families in various communities in Pemba.
We successfully assembled 130+ packages of food for Ramadan 2021, which had provided nourishment for a total of over 1000 individuals. In several Pemba villages, packs were given to 50 old people, 50 widows, and large orphan families (5+ orphans). Ramadan and Eid package distributions were made possible by the £6,000 we earned through our JustGiving online fundraiser.
For Eid Al Fitr in May 2021, we were able to distribute 130+ food packs which had the potential to feed more than 1000 individuals. In several Pemba villages, packs were given to 50 old persons, 50 widows, and large orphan families (5+ orphans).
COZ Foundation supported 450 households throughout Ramadan in 2022, including 100 families for which Global Support Trust contributed. COZ Foundation delivered 650 food packages over the month of Ramadan. To guarantee that they have food to break their fast, we made sure that the food packages are distributed at the beginning of the month of Ramadan and towards the middle. Every package had 10 kg of rice, 10 kg of flour, 10 kg of sugar, 5 kg of dates, and 5 litres of cooking oil, enough to sustain a sizable orphan family for a month.
